Preamble

A covenant across generations

We, the descendants, spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and future generations of Grandfather Desterio Ousuru Marijala — united by blood, marriage, heritage and shared values — hereby establish this Constitution to guide family unity, welfare, leadership and the preservation of our heritage for generations yet unborn.

Article 1

Name, Status & Identity

DGA name, non-political non-profit nature, official colors (Black, White, Purple), logo, motto, flag and seal.

Article 2

Vision, Mission & Core Values

United and prosperous family network. Ten core values: Unity, Love, Respect, Integrity, Accountability, Responsibility, Family Support, Heritage, Empowerment, Community.

Article 3

Objectives

Promote family unity, preserve heritage, welfare support, education, economic empowerment, communication, development projects, family tree archives.

Article 4

Membership Categories

Five categories: Ordinary, Life (Gold/Silver/Bronze), Honorary, Youth, Senior Citizens / Exempt. Rights and obligations of every member.

Article 5

Leadership Structure & EXCO Duties

Chairperson, Patron, Secretary, Treasurer, Organizing Sec., Foreign Affairs Rep., Christian Lead, Cousin Rep. — duties and responsibilities.

Article 6

Standing Committees

Disciplinary, Welfare & Emergency, Culture & Mentorship subcommittees — composition and mandate.

Article 7

Elections

Election procedure, nominations, term limits, eligibility and conduct of family elections.

Article 8

Removal from Office

Grounds and procedure for removing a leader: written notice within 7 days, hearing rights, 1/3 member support for motions.

Article 9

Oath of Office & Collective Responsibility

Oath taken before assuming office. EXCO operates as one body — leaders defend duly approved decisions.

Article 10

Family Welfare Programme

Bereavement, hospitalisation, disability, disaster, education, wedding support. Beneficiaries, waiting periods, contribution rates and welfare models.

Double or Multiple Welfare Cases

Mean Welfare Value formula: (Standard Contribution × Affected Members) ÷ 2 — single consolidated contribution for multiple cases.

Article 12

Contributions & Fees

Registration KES 200. Generation-based scale: 1st Gen KES 2,400/yr, Adult Grand/Great-Grand KES 3,600, College KES 1,000, Youth KES 1,500, Pupils KES 300, Honorary KES 7,000.

Article 13

Family Welfare & Development Fund

Six funds: Welfare, Education, Emergency, Development, Future Generations Trust, Investment.

Article 14

Education & Mentorship Programme

Scholarships, bursaries, mentorship, career development, professional networking and youth empowerment.

Article 15

Family Investment Programme

Investments in land, real estate, agriculture, treasury bonds/bills, SACCOs. No major investment without AGM approval.

Article 16

Financial Management

Banking, receipting, annual audits, quarterly reports. Signatories: Chairperson + Secretary or Treasurer.

Article 17

Digital Governance

Official website, member portal, digital family tree, contribution system, voting, document repository, SMS/WhatsApp/email platforms.

Article 18

Data Protection & Privacy

Compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act No. 24 of 2019. No disclosure without authorization.

Article 19

Code of Conduct

Mutual respect, no abusive language or hate speech, protect family reputation, responsible use of platforms.

Article 20

Disciplinary Procedures

Warning, written reprimand, suspension, removal, denial of benefits — every accused member entitled to a fair hearing.

Article 21

Conflict Resolution

Four-level escalation: Mediation → EXCO → Council of Elders → AGM Appeal. Family harmony takes precedence.

Meetings

AGM, Quarterly EXCO (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct), SGM, Emergency and Committee meetings. Quorum, notice, attendance and absenteeism rules.

Family Archives & Heritage

Family tree, photos, videos, birth/marriage records, obituaries, minutes — permanent digital archive.

Website & Digital Platform

Public pages (Home, About, History, Leadership, Gallery, Videos, News, Contact), Member Portal and Admin Dashboard scope.

Article 25

Amendment of the Constitution

Written proposal, EXCO review, two-thirds (2/3) AGM majority. Founding legacy, motto and core values shall not be altered.

Article 26

Dissolution

Special AGM with 80% of registered members. Upon dissolution all assets remain dedicated to family welfare and heritage.
